SOAP DISH // ("e-Mixtape" cuts) - This page features me putting my own verse(s) over beats I have found online or over
some of my favorite existing rap tracks
The only hard and fast rule here is that all deliveries are a single take - no splicing up lines (but I do add some fun effects) - so these tracks can all be replicated live no problem
Check the Northwest Wisdom EP for some complete originals

This Is Why I'm Hot - MIMS
Produced by Blackout Movement
Die Antwoord made a (Zef) Remix of this song in 2012 and it's one of my favorite YouTube videos (for real, Google it). I had to lay down a version of my own. The background vocal track is by far the most ridiculous that has appeared in the Soap Dish yet.

Origin Unknown I cannot, for the life of me, remember where this track is originally from. But I love it. Jam-packed with wordplay and just a touch of politics - I mean, what more can you ask for in a rap song? |

Origin Unknown One night while driving back from a party I totaled my car. I was wallowing in self-pity over an ex. In the same spot 3 teens were killed a year before in a wreck - I walked away with my life, my legs and a renewed sense of what was important in my life. |

The Devil is a Lie - Rock Ross feat. Jay-Z Produced by Major 7 & K.E. on the Track I'm not sure if it was because I had memorized this track quickly or because I had been living in my booth doing a bunch of voiceover work at the time, but when I went to record this cut it was one and done. I am a big fan of the original but I wanted to make something with a more biblical feel to it - something a little more girandiose. Happy to present the first one-take soap dish addition. |

Origin Unknown Sometimes success is difficult to maintain. Sometimes people ask you for your "secret" for success in your field - as if it isn't hard work and diligence. Sometimes you get very, very frustrated with said people and you need to make a song to reflect your emotions so you don't accidentally scream into someone's face. |

Produced by chaabane mido lamine (Rated PG-13) I wanted to get back to the clean/clever lyrics with this one - the result is one of my favorite Soap Dish tracks of all time (right up there with No Jewels). The idea for the chorus came to me while watching some friends in a production of Shaw's Saint Joan and I just sort of ran with it from there. Also, there's a great Animaniacs reference in the second verse (if I do say so myself). |

KabuzBeats - Epic Dark Hard Instrumental Produced by KabuzBeats Heavy B and I did our first rap show in Fall 2014 and were invited back to do more. Only problem was we didn't have any more tracks we could do. This is the first track set out by the group of artists in the rap game known as "The Opposition" You'll be hearing it at the next show. |
- Original Song-
Driicky Graham - Snapbacks and Tattoos
If "The Opposition" had a mixtape - this would likely be our introductory track. This one got me and Heavy B doin' our thing.

Produced by KidC Produced by KidCAnother beat by KidC I fell in love with (he also produced Ides of March/day). The main thing about this one is it is short - like, really short. 'Sixteen bars' short. I wanted to see if I could really make the lyrics count and keep out any fluff. I've also been dying to throw "Dench" into a rap (as in Judy). Evidently, I have a weakness for strings in my beats... |

Pre - Earl Sweatshirt feat. SK La' Flare Produced by Michael 'Uzi' Uzowuru When I moved farther north in Chicago back in 2013 I obtained a much better studio space. I also obtained a new roommate who fancied himself a rapper, as well. This was our first venture into the studio together and I couldn't be happier with the results. I love the simplicity of this beat. I jump in at about the 1:30 mark with my verse. |

Produced by XDex I wrote this one and Ideas of Mach/day on the 15th of March this past year without realizing the signifigance of the day. The funny thing is that they are totally different tracks. I wrote them while audition crashing at Chicago's Actor's Equity building. Yet both clips sport different lengths, beats, producers, lyrics ,etc... so I'm not sure if their link is noticeable to anybody outside of myself. Inspired mostly by a Yelawolf freestyle, I also had a lot of Tech N9ne and Madchild going through my headphones at the time. |

Produced by KidC Those keeping track will notice right away this beat is nothing like Ides of March/night. Much more fun - and lyrically so too. Pokemon and Dr. Suess all in 4 bars? I'm pretty proud of that. This track also was the first track I recorded and "mixed" myself. My friend over at Sir Spicious showed me a thing or two on Ableton Live Lite. While I'm still quite the novice, I have high hopes for the new closet-studio I've obtained. |

Damp Produced by @AfterTouchBeats I did on a search on "Fast Old-School Hip Hop Beats" and this came up. I don't really know what to say besides I love how fun the sound is. You can likely tell this was a time in my life when Eminem's Rap God was playing pretty often. Also, the title comes from the first line - always had a soft spot for Grease. And remember - all one take! No splicing allowed in the Soap Dish. |

Billion Bucks - Jarren Benton feat. Rittz & John Connor Produced by Kato Ever since I first heard Rittz hit the mic I was inspired. If you've ever seen him, he does not sport the typical hip-hop aesthetic and it hasn't slowed him down one bit. I also was listening to a lot of Tech N9ne at the time I recorded this... I think that's pretty evident. |

Produced by Pintosound (Clean - Rated PG) Another gem by Pintosound I found on Looperman. The fact that KRS-One was sampled on here made me feel a need to keep the lyrics clean and clever - so I did. This track includes references to Sonic the Hedgehog, Catcher in the Rye and even those awful Twilight books. |
- Original Track -
Faraway - Apocalyptica Inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses A lot of MCs have pretty dark and awesome origin stories for their rap personas. I set out to make the origin story that would top them all. I'll let you be the judge. I've also always been blown away by Immortal Techniques track Dance with the Devil. It's one of my all time favorite raps and I wanted to see if I could tell a story that would have a similar effect. |

Produced by Pintosound Pintosound posted this beat on Looperman's website and as soon as it met my ears I knew I had to spit something over it. According to the post he made I had three days to write and record the track. Spend two writing and one in the studio. Here is the result. (And yes - that is a Scarface sample) |

Worldwide Choppers (feat. D-Loc, Twista, Busta Rhymes, Ceza, JL B.Hood, Twisted Insane, Uso & Yelawolf) Produced by Strange Music I have to admit, my attempt at a WWC verse was the last thing I wrote before I learned (the hard way) to incorporate breath control into my writing. On the flip side, though, I am am pretty darn happy with the level of badass-ery achieved with the lyrics. It may not be at the Busta or Twista level yet, but it is wicked. |

Produced by tomas0425 This was the first rap I hammered out after moving this past summer. It kind of felt like a fresh start with a new (larger and cleaner) studio space. The beat was dubbed "Agony" by its creator and so it sat for a while until I could really figure out a proper way to respond to the title and the sound. I finally latched on to this idea of what an MC would do/say in response to that emotion - how he or she would challenge it. Came up with this fun lil' bit. 2013 |

Stay - NaS A friend of mine was going through a difficult time about a year ago. Someone close to him was slipping away due to disease. He had chosen this beat, wrote up a rhyme and was looking for some more verses for the track that fit the theme. I started thinking about what the word "Stay" meant to me. At the time I wrote this, I was getting to know a girl who had strong feelings for suicide prevention and after some late night conversations, I was inspired to translate my feelings into some lyrics. I wrote this back in summer of 2012 and recorded it one year later - hence the multiple dates below. |

I Need a Dollar Instrumental - Remixed by Zen Antiwave (Clean - Rated PG) I heard Yelawolf do a freestyle to another version of this beat and thought it was an odd fit for him. While Yelawolf currently is ranking an undisputed #1 in my current favorite freestyles (If you haven't heard some, do yourself a favor and jump on Google or YouTube) I thought I'd give this one a whirl myself. I also wanted to produce something with a PG rating. |

Produced by JuniorTheBeatMaker As I began penning this rhyme, the original title I had in mind was "James Gandolfini" - however, due to his untimely death, I thought it may be in bad taste to keep it as such. Seeing as this rap has one of my favorite sign-off lines I've ever written, I went with "Spaceman From Pluto" (it's the title Spielberg shot down for "Back to the Future"). This rap is FAST. It took a good couple days of practice and rewriting to find the right spots for breath. I am still a newbie at the mixing but I was going for a bit of an Eminem circa Marshal Mathers LP with the doubling up. |
